"Working with the team at Bartlett | Mettham was honestly one of the best decisions we made for our project. From the very first meeting they took the time to really understand what we were hoping to achieve we had an older property that felt dated and a bit awkward in places, and we wanted something that worked better for modern life without losing its charm. They listened properly, asked great questions about how we actually use the space day-to-day, and then came up with ideas that were clever, practical and surprisingly creative. What really stood out was how thoughtful they are about working with what’s already there. They suggested ways to open things up, improve flow, add natural light and make better use of awkward corners all while keeping the character that made us fall in love with the place in the first place. Every detail felt considered, from the way the new joinery tied in with the original features right down to the choice of handles and light switches. The whole process was relaxed and straightforward too. They kept us updated without bombarding us, explained options clearly (including costs and pros/cons), and were super patient when we changed our minds a couple of times. When the work was finished, the transformation was amazing it feels so much brighter, more welcoming and better suited to how we live now. Friends keep walking in and saying “wow, this doesn’t feel like the same place at all but in the best way”. If you’ve got a project where you want someone who really cares about making existing spaces work beautifully for the people who use them, Dean and Eleanor are brilliant.
