"Several years into our (mostly DIY) heritage renovation project, we found ourselves in need of some professional advice with regards to water ingress and got in touch with Jonathan. From the outset he was incredibly responsive and helpful, and managed to squeeze a property visit into his busy schedule. During the visit, he was able to offer his experienced opinion on works done to date, and suggest next steps (including diagrams, products and suppliers). What was most appreciated was his sympathetic approach, and on top of the advice, he was also able to give us some much needed encouragement. Jonathan's advice and approach has set us up to feel much more confident to move on to the next stages of our project. We would definitely recommend getting in touch!"

"In short, I couldn’t recommend Jonathan highly enough! He came highly recommended by a family member and has completely exceeded every expectation. After buying our first period home, we had absolutely no idea where to start with the restoration, but Jonathan guided us every step of the way. His knowledge of traditional properties is second to none, and it’s clear he genuinely cares about preserving the character of older homes while restoring them properly. Over the course of the project, he repainted all of our sash windows, carried out extensive rot repairs, replaced windowsills, restored heavily painted stone sills back to their former glory (and then some), repointed an entire wall using lime mortar, restored our electric wooden gates, built new gates, repaired locks and radiator covers, and even replaced a dangerously loose cast iron drainpipe with a fantastic lookalike that blends in perfectly. The quality of his workmanship is outstanding, and the care and attention he puts into every job is evident in the finished result. He’s also incredibly trustworthy, reliable and a genuine pleasure to have around. Our young son will genuinely miss saying good morning to him each day! I’ve honestly lost track of the number of hours Jonathan has dedicated to our home, but the results speak for themselves. We are absolutely delighted with everything he’s done and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him to anyone looking for someone with the skill, knowledge and passion to restore and care for an older property. Thank you, Jonathanβ€”we’re so grateful for all your hard work."

"Jonathan is a real find! Having recently purchased a period property, I spent weeks trying to find the right tradesmen to install a new flooring whilst fixing years and years of damp and timber problems in the subfloor. I had numerous flooring guys round who were only interested in laying new flooring on the existing frames, that was until I found Jonathan who from his first visit was already identifying the source of the moisture problems and providing solutions. After just a few weeks work, Jonathan has removed the existing timber subfloor, solved numerous leaks/water ingress at root cause, installed a brand new subfloor and porcelain tiling all on top of damp proofing solutions. Not only this, but Jonathan went above and beyond to build me a bespoke fitted unit in my lounge, lay a bespoke Minton tile hearth, fill damage to the walls, fit new skirting and give a fresh coat of paint throughout. I honestly cannot believe how fast Jonathan works and how attentive to detail his approach is. It’s been a real breath of fresh air finding Jonathan and I now cannot wait to move into a property I was previously starting to have nightmares about. Thank you so much Jonathan, can’t wait to have you back to complete some additional jobs for me. If anyone’s reading this and is in a similar position, do not hesitate to use his services!"

"Jonathan Monk was a real find. He repaired my rotten windows with hard wood and painted the windows, front door, porch and iron gates beautifully. He spent time helping me choose paint colours and recommended the best paint for the job. He is a true master craftsman, with many skills in period property renovation and painting. I would be happy to commission Jonathan again and his work led to several other jobs on the street."

"We can wholeheartedly recommend Jonathan. His insight into period buildings and ability to find solutions to the problems they pose and the materials needed is outstanding. His range of skills is very wide. He works increadibly hard and the quality is well above previous decorators we have had. He found and fitted this beautiful 1930s door which has transfomed our dark hallway. We hope to have hom work on future projects."
