"We contracted Mcleods for the external refurbishment of a 1890s sandstone house. The roof was refurbished with tiles replaced where necessary. In addition the walls were repointed with lime mortar, worn stones were cleaned reinforced and where necessary replaced. All the crafts people were professional at all times. Communication with the project leader was good and swift. The project team were very sensitive to budget overruns with extra items being discussed as they arose and cost implications explained. Nine months on and we are still very satisfied with the quality of the work."
"Always wondered why we would get a small leak in our bedroom during heavy rain. Upon investigation it turns out that the roofer nailed through the Velux flashing which in turn would allow any rainwater to leak behind the flashing and into the room below. Cannot comprehend why somebody would nail through a flashing and thus compromise the integrity and waterproofness of the roof. The battens for holding the tile have suffered extensively and need replacing. Other issue is the standard of tiling around the Velux. Velux state a minimum of 60-150mm mm gap between tile and rear of Velux window. Macleod roofing have left a gap of 20mm with the tiles resting on the flashing, this has caused moss to continually build up. Similar story with leadwork on the rest of the house, very poor quality workmanship. (if you can even call it that) Not sure where they source their employees but doubt any have ever served an apprenticeship. How do they not know how to tile around Velux's?"
"Heather Pottie. I have called Macleod Roofing twice now for different problems with our roof and would thoroughly recommend them. They came very quickly to do the repairs. They were professional and courteous. There prices are very competitive. Wouldn't call anyone else. A very reputable local company."
"I had been let down by a firm from the Central Belt (Kingdom Roof Coatings) and called Macleod Roofing for help. Sandy came out that afternoon, did an inspection, sent me a report (thanks to which I had money refunded) and made me feel better in myself. I have had no qualms about recommending Sandy and his firm and have contacted him to carry out the repairs to my roof! Thank you, Sandy and your firm!!! Anne Williams."
"Maybe they are good if your paying directly but as someone who has seen their work twice in a new house I wouldnโt use them. After completing a repair on our roof using untreated lead flashing they have been out twice and both times made a bodge attempt to sort it, without addressing the issue. First time it was to try pressure washing the flashing stains of the roof tiles (because that works!). Next they changed the tiles but without fixing the issue these were stained white in less than a week. Do yourself a favour and use Highland Slaters (or someone else). Macleod Roofing have gotten too big and forgotten their standards along the way."
