"I approached this company to assist us in pricing up a large project we have been asked to tender for. The response I received was that they were sick and tired of being asked to price a job just to get a price for the tender and to not hear anything back. As we are only at tender stage and haven't secured the project yet, they were not willing to give us a price. This threw me off a bit as i don't understand how they expect someone to get a job without getting a cost for the works first? I work for a construction company and this happens all the time. We get asked to give a price for a job, where we could be one of three or four construction companies that have been approached and therefore in a tender battle and run the risk that we may not win the project OR we are asked to provide a price for works that may never go ahead as the client just wants an idea on cost to see if they can afford it. I understand the frustration of doing the works in pricing something and either not winning the project or hearing anything back but if we approached every inquiry with the attitude i received today, we would be out of business before we knew it. Unfortunately, its part of the industry we work in. How do you expect to get any business if you don't go through the motions of providing a cost. I found them extremely unprofessional."
