"I stopped using Simpson Brothers some years ago because they were reluctant to estimate the price of a job, even when it was clear (such as replacing a leaking pipe) and bills were higher than anticipated. However, I recently returned to them because the issue related to their previous work. I ensured I was clear about what I required in my email. And I gained a price for the visit. Previously Simpson Brothers installed an exterior expansion valve to an older boiler. Because this didn't resolve the issue they installed a new boiler. But unusually, they didn't remove the exterior expansion valve. Recently a plumber thought the vessel was full of water. I therefore asked Simpson Brothers to look into 'WHETHER OR NOT THE EXPANSION VALVE THEY HAD INSTALLED WAS NOW FULL OF WATER'. Having put this in several emails, and repeated it to the worker when they arrived, afterwards I questioned whether they had checked whether it was full of water. Having since spoken to the manager Chris, he said to do as I asked would require draining the boiler and so would take two hours. He offered to charge me for just an hour. So my initial quote for £64 would result in me paying £128! Following further emails to the company Chris offered to refund my money but then sent a credit note! Unfortunately, I have lost faith in the company and do not intend to use them again. Overall, this has cost me £64 and I am left still wondering if the vessel is pointless and therefore should be removed. Very disappointed with Chris's response, never admitting they should have removed it, or tested it at the time they fitted the new boiler."

"These were recommended by my in laws. After they had come to service the boiler and change the kitchen taps we had no water pressure. It took over half an hour for a bath, we couldn't have showers. Apparently this was nothing to do with them although we've never had any problems until they had been and left. All we got told was it's Severn Trents problem. They came round and the water pressure was still the same. After 3 weeks with no water pressure they finally came back after numerous phone calls and sorted the stop cock. They then blamed us when we never touched anything. Then gave us an extra £53 bill. Will never go with these again! We have never had problems in the past but just kept getting told it was our fault. It was our fault for having Simpsons Bros round. They obviously can't deal with old houses??"

"AWFUL i rang to book a boiler repair and told the lady that answered the phone what the problem was ,the valve that decides if i am receiving water or heating is not working correctly and it only dispenses hot water when the heating is on. she said an engineer would arrive a 11.00am , he eventually arrived at one o clock. To my surprise he did not come to repair the fault but just to tell me what i already knew and he said Chris would have to quote. i did not receive a quote but a phone call to say it would be expensive because of the washers etc required and then .told me to try Worcester Bosch !!. very rude man. i got the impression he was not interested in doing the repair. after the engineers visit it was actually worse because i did not receive any hot water at all !!!!. i then received a bill for £57 , not bad is it to send someone on a visit and then charge £57 for not doing anything. other than sit on the floor making a private phone call. AWFUL if i could give less than one star i would have done"

"Very unhappy with the quality of service from this business. When a call out fee was questioned and whether this was for the technicians services for an hour or just arriving at the property the manager was rude to my wife and then hung up on her. When a follow up call was made, no efforts were made to apologise, instead a lecture on speech and grammar was given. I was then hung up on in due course. Disgraceful."
